Frontier

A group of signal molecules that are used by a wide variety of bacteria to coordinate behaviors. These behaviors include expression of surfactants, deployment of defense antibiotics, virulence, motility and several other characteristics that advantage one bacterial species over another.

The precise commercial application of these compounds in animal feeds is, as yet, undecided. However, it is already known that certain autoinducers improve performance of broiler chickens and reduce mortality.

This technology requires further research and, in due course, product registration.
